10 statements that identify my distinctive positioning as a graphic designer.
1 - I am currently a designer highly focussed in the typographic sector of graphic design. Woking with mainly type and layout to create experimental, innovative, visually strong, typographic solutions to problems.
2 - Hoping to work within the publishing area of graphic design interested in mainly design for print, producing visuals for books and magazine covers aswel as going into the editorial aspect of it, experimenting with a combination of type and layout to produce innovative ideas for page layouts within the magazines/books.
3 - Going into the 3rd year of my graphic design degree at Leeds College Of Art, and still aim to ever improve my personal practice and understanding of graphic design and typography.
4 - Focussed more towards working print based media and the on going experimentation you can have with with print, however still with an interest in screen and a thirst to improve my knowledge and practice with this medium.
5 - Aswel as type i also have a huge background of working with image within my practise by only recently deciding to change my focus within graphic design from becoming an illustrator to working in publishing and editorial. I still hope to continue to work will illustration and continue to constantly improve my practice to incorporate both type and illustration within my design work.
6- I need to improve my screen based work, would be interesting to look more into web design and apply it within my practise. Maybe apply it to my own personal promotion and design my own website.
7- One of my strong points of me as a designer is my conceptual thinking, trying to come up with unique, innovative ideas to solve a brief.
8- I aim to work collaboratively where possible within my practise, working in collaborations throughout 2nd year has helped me broaden my knowledge of graphic design and different ways of working to tackle a brief. I hope to work with designers from a wide range of backgrounds to help broaden my skill sets as a designer.
9- Gather a lot of contacts and work experience within the publishing side of graphics in order to gain a larger knowledge of this area and a better understanding of how my work can be applied to this area.
10- Hope to broaden my knowledge of software that i can apply to my design work. Instead of just relying of the adobe suite to produce work i would like to try different software and different approaches to producing work in order to give a unique quality to my design work.
